The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a pressure sensor which determines a value representing the ambient pressure of an internal combustion engine. Furthermore, a measure is generated for the extent of the correction of the composition of the mixture by a mixture regulating system, the air mass supplied is determined from the angle of the butterfly valve, and the suction pipe pressure is detected. An error in the determination of the ambient pressure is detected when the measured air mass differs from the calculated air mass, when the correction of the mixture regulating system is below a pre-determined limiting value, and when the suction pipe pressure and ambient pressure differ in an unacceptable manner when the butterfly valve is open. |
