[Also in Divisions B7 and F2] A coupling for rotatable shafts, stationary members, mine tubs or cars, comprises socketed shafts 10, 12 releasably secured by a pin 15 mounted in a diagonal bore 14 in the shaft 12 and outwardly urged by a rubber block 17 to engage a recess 13, or one of a number of recesses, or an annular groove, formed in the socket 11 of the shaft 10, the pin 15 having a transverse peg 19 which extends through apertures 18, in the shaft 12, for engagement by an extraction tool which may be supported in depressions (not shown) in the socket 11, to disengage the pin 15 against the rubber block 17. The angles of the bore 14 and recess 13 to the axis of the shafts are 45 degrees and 40 degrees respectively to provide a wedging action for the latch pin 15, and the socket 11 is chamfered at 20 to facilitate assembly. |
