摘要 PURPOSE: A digital audio coding method capable of controlling a bit rate is provided to express data for several hierarchies by a single bit stream for adaptively measuring the transmission line states and the request of users. CONSTITUTION: A digital audio coding method capable of controlling a bit rate includes the steps of converting input data by orthogonal transfer and binding the input data by a predetermined scale band(900), normalizing the bound input data by searching scale factors per scale band from a predetermined scale factor table(910), quantizing the normalized data to obtain continuity of data for top bit rate layer among at least two or more bit rate layer(930), recording side information formed of scale factor information per scale bands for a bandwidth of a bottom bit rate layer among the at least two or more bit rates and bit allocation information representing quantization information length of audio data(940), recording the quantization information of the audio data for the bottom bit rate layer behind the side information(950), recording side information and quantization information for a next top bit rate layer(960,980), and repeating the recording of the side information and quantization information to top bit rate layers provided from the bit stream.
