The transporting container has engagement elements provided on the outer side of the side walls (11,12) and/or the end walls (13,14) and can be brought into engagement with engagement elements of an adjacent container of the same type. The engagement elements are formed by interacting outwards protruding engagement plates (24) and recesses (23). Each engagement plate is connected in one piece to the associated wall and is adjustable between a neutral position lying in the plane of the wall and an engagement position protruding from it.
