The multi-purpose application spanner comprises a grip (10) with a hand grip (11) at one end and a head (12) at the other end. A hollow drive member is rotatable together with the grip in order to rotate a workpiece. This drive member comprises a ratchet wheel coupled to the head of the grip. An engagement part (22) is integrally provided on one side of the drive member and is outside the head of the grip. It is provided with several stop pawls (221) equally angularly spaced apart which have inside wedge grooves (222). A hollow and cylindrical holder together with the drive member and the girp is used to rotate a screw head or a nut. It has an engagement part on one side for engagement with the engagement part of the drive member. On the other side it has a polygonal accommodation aperture for a screw head or nut.
