PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a serial recorder having three types of recording mode, i.e., normal, high quality and high speed modes, in which sheet feed is controlled to satisfy the requirements of each mode. SOLUTION: High speed sheet feed control is performed in normal or high speed recording mode and silent sheet feed control is performed in high quality mode with enhanced accuracy although the speed is low.
