PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glue machine capable of obtaining a uniform lateral gap at a fast response when a thickness of one stage web is changed. SOLUTION: The glue machine comprises a rider roll 22 above a starching roll 11 and made of a material having a light weight and a small bending rigidity and mounted at both ends at an arm 20. The arm 20 is rockably mounted at one end in a frame 10, and coupled at other end to an air cylinder 21 supported on the frame 10. The machine further comprises a stay 23 supported on the frame 10 and bridged laterally above the arm 20. A plurality of arms 24 are rockably mounted along the lateral direction at the stay 23. Each arm 24 has a retaining roller 27 for retaining an axial intermediate part of the roll 22, and further coupled to an air cylinder 26 supported on a stay 25. The cylinders 26 are individually controlled by a pneumatic control platen 30.
