PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the image quality of a recording employing a small quantity of ink drops. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a recording head 1 provided with a plurality of nozzle arrays ejecting ink drops from nozzle openings through action of a piezoelectric oscillator 2, a circuit 47 generating a drive signal being fed to the piezoelectric oscillator 2, and a section 45 for controlling ejection of ink drops from the recording head 1 wherein a nozzle array among the plurality of nozzle arrays having the lowest flying speed of ink drop is referred to a reference nozzle array and the drive signal generating circuit 47 generates a drive signal having a drive voltage value set to increase the flying speed of an ink drop ejected from the reference nozzle array to a required speed or above.
