A continuously cast endless metal billet is fed directly and continuously into a multi-stand section rolling mill (5). The profile of the cast billet is adapted to that of the finished profile, so that the cast structure of the billet is converted int the rolled structure of the finished profile, with only min. stretching of the billet in the rolling mill. The finished profile passed through a cooling stand (6) and cut in a cutting stand (7) into length, which are a multiple of final lengths for sale. T length are stretch leveled, bundled, and cut into lengths for sale in a second cutting stand (12).
