PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water supply apparatus utilizing an external water heating appliance in which higher energy saving is realized while accepting free selection elements of a user oneself. SOLUTION: Hot water generated in a solar water heater is supplied to the water inlet side of a hot water supply apparatus. When a remote controller is provided with a solar water heating preference switch and that switch is turned on by a user, operation of the combustion system in the hot water supply apparatus is prohibited and hot water from the solar water heater is delivered, as it is, without being heated (YES at S1, S2). Prohibition of combustion is sustained so long as the hot water temperature is higher than a set temperature which is lower by α (e.g. 10 deg.C) than a set delivery hot water temperature (NO at S4, S2). When the hot water temperature becomes lower than the set temperature, the solar water heating preference switch is turned off forcibly and the operation is reset to normal combustion control also when that switch is turned off by the user oneself and then the hot water is heated (YES at S4, S5, YES at S3, NO at S1, S6-S8). |
