Method for controlling distance between a vehicle and other objects

The regulation method controls the distance of the vehicle from the vehicle immediately in front, using sensors for detecting the actual vehicle velocity and the actual relative spacing, for calculation of a corresponding ideal acceleration (a wu1). The latter is combined with a required acceleration (a wu2) corresponding to the required vehicle velocity (v wu) entered via the driver, to provide an acceleration value (a wu) used for controlling the vehicle engine and/or brakes.
