A chimney cowl of the type having three or more arcuate sides 4 spaced to form vertical outlet slots, and an upper cover-plate, is secured to a chimney top by hook bolts 7 slidably mounted in guides 11 spaced round the base of the cowl. The hook bolts 7 are bent at a right-angle and the end is formed with a knife edge 13 to bite into the inner surface of a chimney wall, Fig. 3. The square section shanks of the bolts 7 co-operate with guides 11 secured to gusset plates 6 between adjacent sides 4 of the cowl. The outer end of each bolt is threaded and carries a wing nut 10, and the bolts may be turned so that the hooked end lies within the cowl for storage and transport. Specifications 535,979 and 629,931 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 875,989.
