PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both an image recording material capable of forming a high-sensitivity image by an infrared laser and an image having excellent stain prevention of non-image part and scratch resistance of image part and a high image quality, and a new polymer compound having infrared absorption ability used therefor. SOLUTION: The image recording material is characterized in that the material comprises a polymer compound having (A) a structural unit containing an alkali-soluble functional group, (B) a structural unit having a surface orientation functional group and (C) a structural unit having infrared absorption ability, and solubility in an alkali development solution is changed by infrared ray irradiation. A fluorine atom-containing group such as a perfluoroalkenyl group, a polysiloxane group, a >=5C straight or branched chain alkyl group, or the like, may be cited as the surface orientation functional group. |
