PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic porous body which is unnecessary to adjust the humidity, the surface of which is formed with a porous film of few pin hole, and the thickness of the film is uniform. SOLUTION: The inorganic porous film is characterized in that a sol containing a metal compound, water, and alcohol is made to coat over the surface of an inorganic porous support medium 2, thereafter the porous film 3 is formed by firing it, at this time it is especially preferable that the sol is to be prepared by adding a solution containing an acid to a solution containing a metal alkoxide and alcohol, and hydrolyzing while adjusting the amount of evaporation of the water and the alcohol, after that heating it.
