AUTOMATIC ENGINE STOPPING AND RESTARTING UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an idling stopping unit capable of restricting deterioration of braking unit driving performance due to lowering of performance of booster negative pressure by engine stop. SOLUTION: A combination of the booster negative pressure with braking operation is collated with memory information stored preliminarily, and if this combination may cause such lowering of booster negative pressure as to give bad effects on braking operation or not is determined (255). When there is a possibility of the pressure being lowered, the engine is restarted. The engine can thus be restarted before the booster negative pressure is lowered, thereby delay time for restarting the engine can be shortened.
