PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel tank for a motorcycle employing an arrangement allowing the occupant to know the positions against which the inner thighs are pressed, while securing the sliding motion of the inner thighs from being hindered. SOLUTION: A recessed part 23 is formed in the outer wall 21 of the fuel tank. A side cover 22 made from a synthetic resin into a plate shape is mounted over the recessed part 23. The outer surface of the side cover 22 is formed to be approximately coplanar with the outer surface of the outer wall 21 of the fuel tank. The side cover 22 is mounted over the recessed part 23 in such a manner that the cover can be elastically deformed in its thickness direction.
