摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable and low-cost optical semiconductor module in which the movement of a fiber caused by YAG welding heat is prevented, variance between pigtail type laser diodes(LD) with an optical fiber is reduced and which is assembled in an enhanced yield with reduced man-hour and has improved coupling efficiency, and to provide a metal coat optical fiber, a metal coat optical fiber with a sleeve. SOLUTION: The metal coat optical fiber 10 is manufactured as follows. A protective coating layer at one end is removed from the optical fiber 3 provided with the protective coating layer 2 on the outer periphery of a bare fiber 1. The end of the exposed bare fiber 1 is cleaved and cut vertically to the optical axis to form a vertically cleaved surface 7. Anti-reflection(AR) coating (r) having a reflectance of 0.1% or more is applied to the cleaved surface. An oxide layer 4 of a high melting point metal as a first layer, a high melting point metal layer 5 as a second layer, and a low-melting alloy layer 6 that can be soldered as a third layer are successively formed on the periphery of the bare fiber 1. A mixed layer 4' of the metals of the first layer 4 and the second layer 5 is formed in the boundary between the first layer 4 and the second layer 5. An alloy layer 5' of the metals of the first layer 4 and the second layer 5 is formed on the boundary of the second layer 5 and the third layer 6.
