PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater sensor that can judge the abnormality in a multi-channel reception circuit and a transducer, and at the same time can correct variation in the reception circuit. SOLUTION: The same test signal as an echo signal is supplied to the front end of reception circuits for the number of channels. The entirely same test signal is used for each reception circuit. Comparison of the level and phase of signals being outputted from the reception circuit determines the variation in gain and phase delay between the reception circuits, and the variation can be corrected by multiplying the output signal of each reception circuit by a correction coefficient for cancelling the variation. Additionally, a channel whose level and phase are extremely different from those of other channels is judged to have result in failure in the reception circuit or transducer.
