PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal shaft submerged pump equipped with a flap valve capable of being embodied in a compact construction by shortening the inter-surface dimension. SOLUTION: A first current feed cable takeout passage 14A having its axis Cx passing a horizontal axial line C is provided near one end in the circumferential direction of a hinge coupling structure 11 in such a way as penetrating an outer casing 1 and a motor frame 4, while a second current feed cable takeout passage 14B having its axis Cx passing the horizontal axial line C is provided near the othert end in circumferential direction of the hinge coupling structure 11, and gaps in the direction of the horizontal axial line C between the passages 14A and 14B and the hinge coupling structure 11 are eliminated. From a motor 5 a power cable 15A is taken out of the outer casing 1 through the passage 14A, and a control signal cable 15B is taken out of the outer casing 1 through the passage 14B.
