PURPOSE: A control method of shifting from 4 to 3 speed before stopping in an automatic transmission is provided to prevent cross shock between engine rpm and turbine rpm by increasing engine rpm with an engine control unit and data communication. CONSTITUTION: A shift demand signal from a vehicle traveling at 4-speed is detected to satisfy 4 to 3 shift control condition(S110), and vehicle speed is compared with the first reference value in satisfying 4 to 3 shift control condition before stop(S130). 4 to 3 shift control signals before stop are output according to engine rpm and turbine rpm in reaching the first reference value(S140). Cross shock is prevented by increasing engine rpm with the engine control unit and data communication.
