PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily achieve averaging of circumferential bearing pressure acting to the peripheral edge of the end of a cylinder bore at a low cost. SOLUTION: This metal gasket 10 has a substrate 11 having a folded part 13 at the end on a combustion chamber hole 12 side, the substrate is interposed between joint surfaces of a cylinder head and a cylinder block and fastened with a fastening bolt, thereby sealing between the joint surfaces. A soft filament 16 is stored in the folded part 13 in the circumferential direction of the combustion chamber hole 12, disposed near the combustion chamber hole 12 side between bolt through holes 15 of the fastening bolt, and disposed spaced from the combustion chamber hole 12 near the bolt through-holes 15.
