PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically shift gears using a shift control unit for a bicycle without requiring complex operations concerning a power supply. SOLUTION: A shift control unit 12 for a bicycle is mounted in the bicycle fitted with an AC generator 19 and an internal shift hub 10 having a plurality of gears, is used for controlling the hub to either of the plurality of gears, and includes a capacitor 32, a shift control part 25 and a lamp case. The capacitor 32 can store electric power coming from the AC generator 19. The shift control part 25 operates on the power stored in the capacitor 32 and controls the hub to either of the plurality of gears according to an AC signal from the AC generator 19. The lamp case holds the capacitor 32 and the shift control part 25 and can be mounted to a bicycle frame or handle.
