PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for bending a strip-form glass thin plate in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction, capable of obtaining extremely high dimensional precision of the bent part, especially extremely high planarity of both surfaces of the bent part, and a working device therefor. SOLUTION: This bending device 1 comprises holding blocks 2 and 3 for freely slidably holding a strip-form glass thin plate 10, a heating part 4 for heating to melt the glass thin plate 10, a sliding mechanism 5 for sliding the glass thin plate 10 to the length direction, and a turning arm 24 for turning the one of holding block 3 to the predetermined direction. The glass thin plate 10 is bent with the heating part 4 as a center of bending while being slid by the sliding mechanism 5.
