PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for forming an article or container having a smooth outer surface at the region adjacent to the closed end thereof using an injection/blow combination molding method. SOLUTION: An injection material is injected through a side gate to be sucked into a mold cavity using a vacuum aid and, if necessary, the mold can be heated. By this constitution, a preform equipped with a closed end having a smooth outer surface free from the gate mark or traces of an injection molding process is formed. Subsequently, the preform is subjected to blow molding to obtain the container of which the closed end has the smooth outer surface.
