PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion having higher photoefficiency by using an inexpensive, easily available and chemically simple additive. SOLUTION: The emulsion comprises chemically and spectrally sensitized silver halide grains, having formate on the surface of the grains.
