PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber having a large numerical aperture. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber, a high refractive index layer is formed around a core and the layer has a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the core. Further, a clad layer having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the core is formed outside of the high refractive index layer.
