PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automate work for placing green chips in cases while saving labor and allow uniform placement of the green chips in the cases. SOLUTION: An inclined chute 73 is used for dropping the green chips on the placement surfaces of the cases S. The green chips are dropped from the upper end to the lower end of the inclined chute 73, in such a manner that the green chips in predetermined attitude are passed in an entry space without overlapping each other. The green chips are laid open between the chute surface and the chute cover of the inclined chute 73, continuing downward in the space, without overlapping each other. The lower end between the chute surface and the chute cover is closed by shutter so that the green chips can stay between the chute surface and the chute cover. As the cases S are carried in a lateral direction, the shutter is opened and so the green chips are laid open on the placement faces of the cases S.
