PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective sheet for photographic paper for thermal transfer which prevents the generation of troubles such as jamming in a printer and defective feed and discharge of a sheet without installing a special device such as a protective sheet detection device on the side of the printer even when thermal transfer is operated erroneously. SOLUTION: The protective sheet for the photographic paper for thermal transfer in which an image receiving layer is formed on a photographic paper base material sheet has structure in which a dye receiving layer 2 is formed on one side of a protective sheet base material 1. A heat resistant mold release layer 3 is formed on the back of the protective sheet base material 1. A printing layer 4 exhibiting the protective sheet is formed between the protective sheet base material 1 and the dye receiving layer 2.
