PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cyclic dimer of a hydroxycarboxylic acid useful as a feedstock or an auxiliary feedstock of a resin, an oil and fat or the like, or a modifier thereof, and further to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This cyclic dimer of the hydroxycarboxylic acid is represented by formula (1) (wherein, A is a 1-8C monovalent linear saturated hydrocarbon; and n is an integer of 1-15).
