Process for the global repairing of a piece coated with a thermal barrier

Repair of a component coated with a thermal barrier with an outer ceramic layer and an inner layer of alumino-forming alloy involves using a halogen gas to remove the layers and depassivate before repairing any damage. The total repair of a component (1) coated with a thermal barrier made up of an outer ceramic layer (5) and an alumino-forming alloy sub-layer (3) consists of: (a) subjecting the component to a thermochemical treatment under a fluorine halogen gas for sufficient time to eliminate the aluminum of the sub-layer, oxides and sulfur compounds present at the surface and in the cracks of the component, provoking the removal of the ceramic layer and the depassivation of the component; (b) restoring the mechanical integrity of the component by repairing the cracks with filler material where necessary; (c) enriching the surface with aluminum as necessary; and (d) depositing a new layer (5) of ceramic.
