PURPOSE: A variable shift control method is provided to shift gears smoothly by exactly deciding a shifting point of a vehicle during driving. CONSTITUTION: A variable shift pattern applying condition is checked(S100,S110). The variable shift pattern applying condition is that a shift lever is in a 'D' range, a speed of a vehicle is slower than a first set value and an opening angle of an accelerating pedal is larger than a second set value. In satisfying the variable shift pattern applying condition, the vehicle is driven as a shift pattern by setting the shift patterns according to loads. To decide the loads, driving force is calculated based on engine torque data from an engine control unit and compared with preset loads deciding data. A variable shift pattern is applied to the vehicle if the loads are decided an empty status or a 1/2 loaded status. Thereby, the shift quality, the power efficiency and the fuel efficiency are improved.
