PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrophoretic particles for an electrophoretic display element, which is excellent in dispersibility and dispersion stability in the lapse of time in an insulation medium and whose aggregation, deposition and the like are prevented, to provide a manufacturing method for the electrophoretic particles, having general applicability for pigment to be used corresponding to full color display and to provide an electrophoretic display element excellent in memory properties and high in reliability using the electrophoretic particles. SOLUTION: At least a part of the surface of the pigment is coated with polyhydroxyalkanoate. The electrophoretic particles are formed by adopting the pigment as a part of its constitution.
