PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device capable of heightening visibility of a road on a map image. SOLUTION: When a user performs setting operation of the display line width and a display color of a road in each kind of roads on an operation part 7, a registration part 13 stores them in a first road display condition storage part 9. A map data acquisition processing part 15 inputs present position data from a GPS reception part 2, and controls a CD-ROM reading part 5 so as to read out map data around the present position from a CD-ROM 4 and to store the data in a buffer memory part 14. A plotting part 18 plots the map image around the present position together with a present position mark by using the map data in the buffer memory part 14. In this case, when switched to a manual (normal) mode by the operation part 7, the road is plotted following the display line width and the display color (the display line width and the display color in each kind of roads defined in the map data) in each kind of roads stored in the first road display condition storage part 9. The map image is read out by a picture conversion part 19, converted into a picture signal, and outputted onto a display part 3. |
