PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter and a liquid crystal display device wherein cell gap unevenness is hardly generated even when the color filter has a transparent protective film and the difficulty of the design and the narrowness of a cell design margin which are proper to a lamination method are improved without increasing the number of manufacturing stages. SOLUTION: The color filter wherein colored layers having at least respective three primary colors and a spacer consisting of resin are provided in a screen is characterized in that the transparent protective film is formed on the colored layers and the spacer regulating the cell gap of the liquid crystal display device is formed via the transparent protective film above the part where two or three colors of colored pixels are layered.
