PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive rotating angle detector capable of detecting the absolute steering angle of multiple rotations with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This rotating angle detector for detecting the rotating angle of a rotating shaft 16 supported by a housing (not shown) comprises a sun gear 4 connected to the rotating shaft 16; one or more planet gears 5A, 5B and 5C meshed with the sun gear 4 and having centers revolving around the sun gear 4; an outer ring 6 having an inner gear meshed with the planet gears 5A, 5B and 5C and fixed to the housing; one or more targets a, b and c interlocking with the revolution of the planet gears 5A, 5B and 5C; and one or more detecting means A, B and C for detecting the displacements of the targets a, b and c. The rotating angle of the rotating shaft 16 is detected on the basis of the displacements detected by the detecting means A, B and C. |
