PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door device for an elevator landing which is formed to have a fire spread checking structure, and which can be easily installed in a small space in a doorway width direction of an elevator shaft. SOLUTION: A labyrinth-like gap 11 having bends is formed in between to a jamb in a cross sectional view when a sliding door 7 is closed. One side of a vertical frame member shielding plate 10 is installed on a door pocket side end surface of the sliding door 7 to surround a vertical frame protruded and bent part 9 of the jamb. A protruded end of the vertical frame member protruded and bent part 9 is disposed to be retracted more on the aperture part side of a doorway 3 than a door pocket side end surface when the sliding door 7 is closed. Protruded quantity of the vertical frame shielding plate 10 from the end surface of the sliding door 7 in a door opening direction is thus reduced, and required space in a width direction of the doorway 3 in the elevator shaft 7 can be minimized. Construction cost on the elevator shaft can thus be reduced, and limitation to elevator installation can be reduced.
