A System for mounting material collector containers to lawn and garden tractors or vehicles (10) includes mounting arms (32, 34) pivotally attachable to the vehicle frame (14) and spring biased latching means (48) connected to the arms (32, 34) for releasably and automatically latching the arms (32, 34) to the frame (14) in a given pivotal position. The mounting bracket system is arranged so as to be latched to and receive vertical support from a location or locations remote from the hitch plate (22) and hitch hole (24). Thus, the mounting bracket system does not interfere with the normal intended uses of the hitch plate (22) and hitch hole (24).
