PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus in which two way communication with a host computer can be realized through a simple system and data concerning to the operating state of the imaging apparatus can be acquired from the host computer by remote operation. SOLUTION: A PHS communication means 2 provided in a copy machine 1 and a communication means 25 connected with a host computer 4 for managing failure in a service center realize two way communication between the copy machine 1 and the host computer 4 for managing failure. When the PHS communication means 2 in the copy machine 1 receives a data fetch signal from the host computer 4 for managing failure, a control means 8 of the copy machine 1 operates a data acquisition means 5 which then detects data at each section of the copy machine and the PHS communication means 2 transmits the detected data to the host computer 4 for managing failure.
