The device has at least one lamp (9) that emits light directly via a light output surface and a device for outputting an indirect light component with at least one adjustable element (52). In a first setting the device provides indirect light output. In at least one further setting it causes different characteristics of the indirect light or wholly or partly suppresses output of an indirect light component.
