PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handle assembly for fishing reel, whose operability is improved in rotation operations. SOLUTION: This handle assembly for a double bearing fishing reel is an assembly which is used for the rotation operations, is disposed on a handle shaft mounted in a reel main body 1 in a state capable of being rotated on the first axis, and comprises a handle arm 6, a handle grip 7, a rotation support 8, and a positioning mechanism 9. The handle arm 6 is attached to the handle shaft in a state capable of being not rotated. The handle grip 7 is disposed at the tip of the handle arm 6 and can be rotated on the second axis X substantially parallel to the first shaft. The handle grip 7 is mounted on the rotation support 8 in a state that the handle grip 7 can freely be moved in the second axial direction X, and the rotation support 8 is used for rotatably connecting the handle grip 7 to the handle arm 6. The positioning mechanism 9 is a mechanism which enables the positioning of the handle grip 7 at either of positions on the rotation support 8 in the second axis X direction.
