HERBAL EXTRACT FOR PROMOTION OF RELEASE OF GROWTH HORMONE

PURPOSE: A herbal extract containing an Alismatis Rhizoma as an effective ingredient is provided. Therefore, the extract exhibits high growth hormone releasing activity and the pharmaceutical composition and the health food containing the extract can be effectively used in prevention and treatment of various diseases related with growth hormone. CONSTITUTION: Alismatis Rhizoma is mixed with alcohol or a mixed solvent of alcohol and water, or hydrolyzed with a 0.1 to 2N acid or base solution, neutralized and then extracted with alcohol or a mixed solvent of alcohol and water. For an example, 50g of Alismatis Rhizoma is extracted in 500ml of methanol solution at room temperature for 2 days, 1g of Alismatis Rhizoma extract is mixed with 0.6g of sodium chloride, 0.1g of ascorbic acid and a suitable amount of distilled water to produce an injectable solution. The Alismatis Rhizoma extract is orally administered 1 to 6 times a day in the therapeutically effective amount of 0.1 to 40mg/kg, preferably 0.4 to 4mg/kg.
