PURPOSE:To provide a three-color back light source capable of obtaining a high-density color picture by conventional color filter system color panel display by using a white light source. CONSTITUTION:The three-color back light source is equipped with the white light source 2 (2B, 2G and 2R) corresponding to the respective colors B, G and R, and a prism 3 on which a white light beam W emitted from the white light source 2 is made incident. The white light source 2 is arranged so that the light beams of the respective colors B, G and R spectrally split by the prism 2 may be made incident on the incident surface of a display part 8. Since the light beams of the respective colors B, G and R are supplied to the display part 8 by using the white light source, the color filter of the display part 8 is not necessitated. |
