PURPOSE: A method for providing an automatic response in a portable communication terminal is provided to offer voice data to the portable communication terminal according to each time. CONSTITUTION: A portable communication terminal stores set information in a storing unit of a memory(S300). If a signal is inputted from a transmission side which requests a telephone call while the portable communication terminal is in an automatic response state(S320). The portable communication terminal confirms whether the automatic response state is released(S330). If the portable communication terminal is in the automatic response state continuously, the portable communication terminal calculates the difference between a telephone call request time of the transmission side and a time inputted for an automatic response setup in a scheduler for obtaining the difference as a time(S350). The portable communication terminal combines the obtained time and designated voice data, and generates an automatic response message(S360). The portable communication terminal provides the automatic response message to a caller(S370).
