PURPOSE: An information providing system for utilizing a mobile communication terminal in an intelligent traffic system and a method for the same are provided to be supplied at a non communication area at which a road-side equipment base station is not installed by connecting with the mobile communication system with utilizing the mobile communication terminals at the non communication area. CONSTITUTION: An information providing system for utilizing a mobile communication terminal in an intelligent traffic system includes a mobile communication base station for servicing a plurality of road-side equipment base stations(20) to implement a dedicated short range communication(DSRC) installed at a road side and the mobile communication, a plurality of mobile mount equipments(10) for selectively utilizing the road-side equipment base stations(20) in response to the communication status of the road-side equipment base stations(20) to use the information providing service or the communication with the mobile communication base station through the mobile communication terminals and an information providing server(40) for supplying the data information required from the mobile communication terminals and the mobile mount equipments(10).
