PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer remote controller for making it unnecessary to match a position where a remote control part is directed with a position where a pointer on a screen is moved. SOLUTION: An optical signal from a remote control device 11 is received by photodiodes 16a, 16b, 16c and 16d, and the moving direction of a pointer 17 is calculated from the code of the change within a predetermined time of each signal level outputted by each photodiode, and the moving amounts of the pointer 17 is calculated from the scale of the change of each output signal level.
