PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a varistor which is capable of restraining resin from burning so as to be improved in safety by making resin, which is located adjacent to the short circuit of an element to cause burning, fly away quickly. SOLUTION: A large number of irregularities are provided to a sheathing resin 2 which protects a varistor element 1 so as to make the surfaces of the sheathing resin 2 rugged in cross section. Epoxy resin is used as the sheathing resin.
