PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate labor and time in distributing and updating works, etc., of a document and to reduce time and labor in distribution via a network. SOLUTION: In this document management system having a document management server 100 to manage documents to be browsed by a plurality of clients 40, 50 connected with any one of a plurality of document servers 200, 300 at a distributing destination, in block by using the network 1, it is provided with a document storage part 110 provided in the document management server 100 and to store a plurality of pieces of document data by associating them with the respective distributing destinations, a document extracting part 120 to extract differential data with the document data transmitted at the preceding time when the document is updated and a document distributing means 130 to transmit only the differential data via the network 1 when the document is updated.
