ERBIUM DOPED FIBER AMPLIFIER MODULE

PURPOSE: An erbium doped fiber amplifier module is provided to improve the lifetime and reduce the light loss by preventing the permeation of moisture. CONSTITUTION: An erbium doped fiber amplifier is comprised of two light isolators(1,4), a wavelength division multiplexer(2), an erbium doped fiber(3'), a pumping laser diode(5). The erbium doped fiber(3') is coated with a copper. The copper coated on the erbium doped fiber(3') prevents the permeation of moisture and hydrogen to reduce the static fatigue. The copper further reduces the tensile stress to scale down the size of a module when the erbium doped fiber(3') or the module comprising the erbium doped fiber amplifier is bent for packaging. As a result, the lifetime of the erbium doped fiber amplifier is lengthened and the light loss is reduced.
