PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an individual authentication system on the Internet utilizing an IC card in which the authentication data of an individual cannot be abused in a shop or the like. SOLUTION: In this individual authentication system on the Internet utilizing the IC card, the server 31 of a client shop receives IC card authentication data D hidden and recorded at the time of IC card issuance inside the IC card 12 used for an electronic transaction, the received data are transferred to an authentication institution and authenticated, an authenticated result is transmitted to the shop server and thus the individual is authenticated. In another embodiment, the authentication institution is an IC card issuing company 2 or a financial institution, and the server 21 of the IC card issuing company or the financial institution authenticates the individual and transmits the authenticated result to the client shop. Also, when a different access number is imparted to the IC card authentication data at every access, even when the data are present on the Internet, the danger of data abuse is reduced. |
