PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress backlash of a terminal metal in insertion/pull-out direction. SOLUTION: The terminal metal 30 regularly inserted can be loosened between a regular insertion position and a locking position by a rear lance 13. But, when a retainer 40 is moved to a permanent locking position, the retainer 40 abuts on the terminal fitting 30 and holes the terminal fitting 30 at the regular insertion position so as to restrict the backlash. Since tapered abutting parts 36A and 41A are provided, the retainer 40 surely pushes the terminal metal 30 to the regular insertion position even if the terminal metal 30 is positioned backward from the regular insertion position so that the retainer 40 is moved to the permanent locking position.
